In 2022 we were appointed by a private client to add a second storey to their home for the primary purpose of housing students in 4 new rooms. The spaces would also be able to be rented out on Airbnb.
The budget was restricted and the timelines too so we recommended a lightweight steel frame system to construct the upper level (also a cost saving as the original foundations would support that without the need for underpinning).
